1. Overview
This policy explains how EmailLabs uses cookies and similar browser storage. The short answer: as little as possible. In fact, we don't use cookies for tracking at all— we keep you signed in with a small amount of strictly-necessary local storage, and we don't track you across the web.
2. What we use
We rely on a small set of strictly-necessary, first-party browser storage — not third-party cookies:
- Auth token— kept in your browser's local storage to keep you signed in to the dashboard. Without it, login doesn't work. It never leaves your device except to authenticate your own API requests.
- Local UI preferences— small values that remember whether you're signed in (so we show the right button) and whether you've dismissed the storage notice.
These exist purely to make the product function and secure your session. They are not used to profile you.
3. What we don't use
- No third-party analytics (Google Analytics, Amplitude, etc.).
- No advertising or retargeting cookies.
- No cross-site tracking or fingerprinting.
- No social media or marketing pixels.
We may use privacy-respecting, aggregate metrics in the future. If that ever involves non-essential cookies, we'll ask for your consent first and update this page.
4. Why there's no consent banner
Under the GDPR and the ePrivacy Directive, strictly-necessary storage doesn't require prior consent — and this rule covers local storage the same way it covers cookies. Since we only store what's essential to deliver a service you explicitly requested (logging in), a consent gate isn't required.
We still show a brief notice so you know exactly what's happening — transparency over dark patterns.
5. Managing storage
You can view or clear this storage through your browser settings at any time. Note that clearing the auth token will sign you out, since it's required for authentication.
6. Changes
If we change what we store — especially if we ever introduce non-essential cookies or storage — we'll update this policy and, where required, ask for your consent.
